Partner Organizations

Strong coalitions across the state are addressing healthy eating and active living. One of the major goals in creating Tennessee's state plan is to support and maximize their efforts by creating synergy among stakeholders using a cohesive, comprehensive and sustainable platform that encourages partnership building and cooperation through goal writing, implementation and evaluation of progress. These coalitions have a significant presence on the Tennessee Obesity Taskforce.

Coalitions that have a strong presence on the Tennessee Obesity Taskforce include: Community Food Advocates; Children's Hospital Alliance of Tennessee; Coordinated School health Action Committee; Every Child Outdoors; Healthy Eating Active Living Appalachia; Healthy Memphis Common Table; Knoxville Childhood Obesity Coalition; Partnership for Healthy Living; Safe Routes to School Network; and YMCA/Pioneering Healthier Communities Teams.

The Tennessee Obesity Taskforce is also closely aligned with and supported by national partners, such as the American Diabetes Association, American Dietetic Association, American Heart Association, Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Save the Children, Food Trust, National Center for Bicycling and Walking, Centers for Science in the Public Interest, and the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity.
